Rachel is an 11th grader at Austin High School and is a member of the Academy for Global Studies. She plays Oboe, English Horn, and marches bass drum in the band. She is involved in Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, Youth and Government, National Honor Society,and the Austin Youth Orchestra. She has also played piano for over eleven years. Rachel's favorite parts of the Boston trip were the enriching tour at the historic Vilna Shul as well as sampling delicious kosher food after hours of trekking around the city. Barbara is a current junior in the Academy for Global Studies program at Austin High School. Barbara has been an Austin High cheerleader for 2 years now and this year has served as social officer for the squad. She is a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, Young Life, Fishing Club, and KAHS (the school's televised news program). Barbara's favorite part of the Boston trip was being able to understand the Jewish culture better and visit the Chabad House and Harvard Hillel and list to individuals working to bring back Jewish traditions to today's Jewish society. Matthew is in 11th grade at Austin High School and in the Academy for Global Studies. Matt has been an Austin high soccer player for three years and his junior year on Varsity. He is a member of FCA, Young life, Key club, and Fishing club. Matthew's favorite part of the Boston trip was learning how much of a historical impact the Vilna Shul had on Boston's Jewish community and visiting Fenway park. Tommy is a junior in the AGS program at Austin High School. He is a member of National Honor Society and Key Club. Tommy has also been a member of the Austin High Swim Team for 3 years. Tommy's favorite parts of the Boston trip were visiting the astoundingly powerful Boston Jewish Memorial, seeing Fenway Park, and playing in the snow. You can contact Tommy at [email protected].
Angelica is an 11th grader at Austin High School and a student in the Academy for Global Studies program. She plays the viola for the Austin High School Orchestra and is also an active member of the chess club . During her free time, Angelica enjoys playing tennis, hiking, jogging and playing the piano with her nephew. She also helps service "fun runs" (small 5k runs hosted in Austin, TX). Some sights in Boston that Angelica enjoyed visiting were Vilna Shul, The Chabad House and the Harvard Semitic Museum. She loved learning about the history of The Vilna Shul and the beautiful architectural detail inside of the Synagogue. The Harvard Semitic Museum explored in depth about ancient Mesopotamia, modern day Israel, which was very engaging. Oliver is an AGS junior at Austin High School. Oliver is in involved in the Austin High Red Dragon Players as well as the Graphic Design department , both of which he very much enjoys being a part of.
